  1. Help: menu point addresslist                                     14.03.93
  2. Under this menu point you can edit the list of known
  3. addresses. You can assign names, groups and alarm values
  4. for their activity.
  5.  
  6. A survey of the addresses connected to the network is
  7. imperative for network administration and supervision.
  8. If you own already a data base for your addresses, you
  9. should export these in the standard - ASCII format,
  10. to be able to use them for Net-Control. The format of
  11. the Net-Control address file (default name: ADRESSEN.SDF)
  12. is described in the manual.

  14. If you don't have an address data base and you don't want
  15. to input all addresses manually, you can advise Net-Control
  16. to "learn" the addresses.
  17.  
  18. To do this you have to run the data sampling process of
  19. Net-Control for a longer time, whereby all addresses noted by
  20. the program are stored as "new addresses". Then you change to
  21. the menu "≤View stored data≥" and select there the menu point
  22. ≤new addresses≥.  You get a list of hardwareaddresses. Here
  23. you can choose up to 50 addresses through <Enter>. By
  24. ≤<Escape> you leave≥ the list and you are asked, whether you
  25. would like to take over the marked addresses in the list of
  26. the known addresses. If this is the case, you can define
  27. names, group assignments and alarm values for these addresses.
